320 km Solo Highwood Triangle ride accomplished on June 22, 2011. Ride summary:
Total time 12:49
Riding time 11:05
Distance 320.6 km
Total climbing 2560m
Total work / calories 6773
Average power 170W (riding)
Stops:
Bragg Creek coffee place (We don’t accept Visa cash or debit – huh?) – 11 minutes
Scott Lake Hill, highest point on Trans Canada east of Rogers pass – 13 minutes
Stoney Nakoda Lodge and Casino – 18 minutes
Boundary Ranch – 22 minutes
Gas station at the gate – 7 minutes
Highwood Pass – 4 minutes
Highwood House – 15 minutes
Total Stoppage – 104 minutes including some nature calls along the way, couple dropped chains
What worked:
9 Powerbars and powergels, about 12 Powerbar bites, 1 Pepsi, 1 Coke, 2 Gatorade, 1 espresso
SRM Training System recorded all data faithfully
Shimano Dura-ace 7701 wheels (2001) and Michelin Pro Race 3 tires – second season on these babies with no flat tires ever, no truing, nothing. Brilliant combination
1 bottle Coppertone sport Ultra Mist sunblock (sorry Trev, no baby oil this time)
Tweets, FB, email, FB and messages from all my supporters!
What didn’t work:
Google My Tracks on Xperia Arc phone – too much battery consumption
Wireless coverage from Boundary Ranch to almost Longview – good grief 140 kms of dead zone, which also meant shutting the device off to prevent battery drain from signal hunting. No tunes or nothing for almost 5.5 hours
